Spring ball is in full swing for the Florida Gators. Dan Mullen (head coach) has high expectations going into his second season at the University of Florida. Gator fans are expecting to see their team compete year in and year out for championships. Because the gators have seen so much success in their first year under coach Mullen they are far ahead of where they should be in spring ball. However, that does not mean that Mullen’s standards for the team changes. Mullen still expects relentless effort at all times from his players.

Great teams start with who is playing up front. Unfortunately, Florida has lost four of the five starting offensive line positions. During the rest of spring training camp they will be looking to find four guys that will be able to fill those positions. Not only is the offensive line position an issue to fix, but Dan Mullen also has his hands full with nine new true freshman that have enrolled early. Having nine new true freshman come in early for spring ball can be very beneficial for the Gators to develop more quickly on the field. In addition, early enrollment can help the individual players as they learn to adapt to college life and work on the challenge of balancing school with football.

Now that all three quarterbacks, Feleipe Franks, Kyle Trask and Emory Jones, have been underneath Mullen’s explosive offense for a year, these guys are able to handle situations much better. The three quarterbacks are showing more confidence than they did a year ago when Mullen implemented his new system with the team. According to Andreu all three quarterbacks have had the opportunity to work with the first team offense while going through spring practices.

The Gators will be opening up their season under the lights on prime time ESPN against Miami in Orlando, FL. They will be taking on one of the most highly recruited quarterbacks that came out of high school, Tate Martell. Getting that first victory and an in-state win will be a great way to start the season for this young team.
