In week 8 of the NCAA softball season, three outstanding athletes were awarded players of the week. The SEC Player of the Week is LSU's Amanda Sanchez posting a .700 BA with 4 runs, 10 RBIs over the past week. In Sunday's game against South Carolina, Sanchez hit a homer in the first, and followed it in the fourth with a grand slam to put the Tigers up 7-1. Sanchez put up a 1.700 slugging percentage and a .733 on base percentage. What a week!
Autumn Storms, a Junior from Arkansas went 3-0 in the circle and earned here the SEC Pitcher of the week. She registered 2 complete games on the week striking out 12 in 20.2 innings of work and turn in a 1.02 ERA. Storms' outstanding performance helped the razorbacks take their second SEC series win on the year. Keep your eye on Storms as she will continue to play a major role for the razorbacks.
The Freshman of the Week is Tennessee's Ashley Rogers. Rogers turned a complete game 1 hit bid and helped the lady vols claim their third SEC series victory over the Missouri Tigers. Rogers has been used in big time situations to shut down opposing teams. Expect much more from Ashley in the next few years.
